A Train Driver who taught me the secret of Happiness!!

Hello There, Welcome back to my blog…

Many times in our life, we find it clueless when we are faced with the question of where to find happiness or how to be happy. We always tend to believe its the material things, money and power brings happiness.

Yes I do agree that, they all add to our comfort and in that way give happiness. But often we get unexpected happiness from the small things. Today we will see about such an incident happened in my life.

As I have mentioned in this here, this blog is my way of trying to achieve a childhood dream. But there is a triggering incident which made me felt I should have a platform to share a lot many good things happening around me. It acted as the main reason for my blogging journey. When most of the news around us are focused on the negativity, I felt I should do something to spread some positive vibes. Most of the times we will be in search of where to find happiness or how to be happy? From the incident I am going to tell you I learned it is very easy than many of us think. Would like to what happened?

The Incident

Sometimes in our life, when we feel there is no love and kindness around us some people will walk into our life just like that and prove us we are wrong. Today am going to talk about such a person whom I met in my life. He had created a lot of happiness in my heart with a very small act of kindness.

Some two years back we were travelling. We were waiting in the railway station for our train to arrive. My little one, then 5 months old was in deep sleep in my hands. I was so engrossed in some thinking. There was quite some rush in the platform as some other train had arrived to that platform.

After some 10 minutes, it was time for that train to depart. Suddenly I heard somebody calling “hello” a bit loudly from somewhere nearby. I looked around to see who is calling whom. It was the train driver and he was in fact calling me. In sign language he asked me to the cover the ears of my little one since he is going to honk the horn before starting the train. I was really taken aback for a minute and starred at him. He again asked me to cover my baby’s ears. I followed his instruction and he smiled and honked the horn. The train slowly moved.

My Thoughts – Where to find happiness?

The whole day my heart was filled with such big happiness. Even now when I talk about that I feel that same joy in my heart. You may be wondering what’s the big deal about this, right? But for me, I have seen an act of kindness like this after a long time.

On a regular basis I see everybody rushing to overtake others – while driving, getting into the lift, being in the queue. Many people never bother to stop their vehicles even when they see kids or old aged people are waiting to cross the road. I use to feel that we are becoming more and more of a self-centred society. Not to mention the cruel crimes happening all around.

Then suddenly this gentleman walked into my life and proved me I am wrong. The fact that he noticed my baby sleeping even in that rush and was sensible enough to think he will be frightened if a loud noise blown at him is something marvellous. Because we were sitting almost exactly facing the engine cabin.

At that moment, I learned from him, to create happiness in someone’s life we don’t even have to spend a single rupee sometimes.

The take away – How to be happy by giving happiness

When it comes to Charity works, we have many organisations and good hearted people who are spending crores of rupees to create a better life for fellow humans. I really appreciate all their efforts.

But as a society we lag behind these kind of small small acts of kindness big time I feel.. A simple act of love and kindness, a warm smile at people who cross you, a heartfelt appreciation when you see good in others – all these can create so much positive energy in people. Why I am so sure about this is when I am at the receiving end of any of these it really makes my day. I believe its the same for you also.

Where to find happiness? How to be happy?

To be at the receiving end also means we have to be at the giving end as well. Good things or bad things, I believe what goes around comes around. All the good things you throw out into this Universe will come back to you in many folds. So give away lavishly your smiles, your good words, good deeds – let them all flow back to you.

Please use the chance when you get an opportunity next time to warm up someone’s day. Yes, never miss that !!!

A big cheers to all those people out there who is already doing that!!!

This post is actually a dedication to that young man who taught me this simple lesson and created so much joy in me. If he happens to read this on some fine day I will consider myself lucky enough to give back something in return for what he has done.

See you all soon with a new post..till then take care and stay happy.
